International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction
Safety is not an abstract value to us; it is a daily practice. Across every site we operate, we hold our people and our communities to one simple standard: everyone who comes to work in good health should go home safely, every single day. That standard shapes how we train, how we prepare, and how we respond when the unexpected happens.
A Shared Responsibility
Disaster risk reduction is built into the way we work. Our Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) teams are present at every location, equipping our people with the knowledge and skills to recognize risk and respond to it, but safety itself is never the job of one team alone. It is a responsibility every person on site carries together, in every task and every decision.
A Program Built for Real Conditions
Over the past year, our teams have delivered a comprehensive series of training and awareness sessions addressing the risks our people actually face — from first aid, fire safety, and the correct use of personal protective equipment, to specialized preparedness for marine operations such as man overboard response and basic sea survival, as well as health risks including malaria, dengue fever, and occupational conditions like dermatitis. Mental health and wellbeing are treated with the same seriousness as physical safety, reflecting our view that genuine preparedness covers the whole person.
This is a living program, continually expanded as new risks are identified and new lessons are learned — not a static checklist.
Preparedness as a Mindset
We can never predict exactly when an emergency will occur. What we can control is how ready we are when it does. By investing consistently in knowledge, training, and a culture where every employee feels empowered to ask questions and take part, we are able to respond to risk more quickly, more accurately, and with greater composure — protecting our people, our operations, and the communities in which we work.
Looking Ahead
Our commitment to disaster risk reduction will continue to grow alongside our operations. We believe that resilience is built well before a crisis arrives — through consistent training, open communication, and a culture where safety is everyone's responsibility. That is the standard we hold ourselves to, and the standard we invite our communities to hold us too as well.
