Health & Safety

The health and safety of our people is fundamental to responsible & ethical business operations. Atlas Pearls operates across marine farms, vessels, hatcheries, processing facilities, logistics sites & offices, each with different hazards & operating conditions. Managing these risks requires clear systems, strong site-level implementation & a culture where safety is part of everyday decision-making.

Our Health and Safety pathway focuses on how we manage occupational health and safety impacts, including risk identification, worker participation, training, occupational health services, injury reporting and work-related ill health. It also supports Indonesia’s national K3 framework, including the longstanding legal foundation for workplace safety under Law No. 1 of 1970 on Occupational Safety and the government’s continued emphasis on strengthening workplace safety culture and worker protection.

Over recent years, Atlas Pearls has strengthened its HSE capability across operations. This has included dedicated HSE leadership, site-based HSE officers, improved incident reporting processes, regular safety communication, worker training, emergency drills and follow-up of audit actions. These systems help improve visibility of risks and support more consistent responses across our geographically dispersed sites.

Training and preparedness are key priorities. During the reporting period, employees participated in health and safety training. Regular toolbox talks and emergency drills also helped reinforce practical safety behaviours and prepare teams for high-risk scenarios.

Improved reporting, stronger training and site-level safety responsibilities support a more proactive safety culture. Atlas Pearls’ approach is based on prevention, participation and continuous improvement so people are supported to work safely and confidently across all areas of the business.

  • Health and Safety Training & Preparedness

    Training and preparedness are central to Atlas Pearls’ health and safety approach. Our operations involve a wide range of working environments, from vessels and marine farms to processing facilities, workshops and accommodation sites. Ensuring that employees understand risks and know how to respond is essential to preventing harm and strengthening confidence across the workforce.

    During the reporting period, Atlas Pearls delivered health and safety training across operational locations. Health training covered topics such as malaria, dengue, hepatitis, tuberculosis, mental health, dermatitis and hand care, and epilepsy awareness. Safety training focused on practical workplace risks and emergency response, including first aid, basic firefighting, sea survival, manual handling, correct PPE use, dropped object awareness and man overboard response.

    Emergency drills also played an important role in translating procedures into practice. Across sites, teams participated in scenarios such as fire, earthquake, tsunami, medical emergency, man overboard and volcanic eruption response. These activities help strengthen coordination, reinforce roles and responsibilities, and prepare teams for high-impact events.

    Regular toolbox talks supported day-to-day safety communication, focusing on practical topics such as housekeeping, slips and trips, pinch points, falling objects, moving equipment, PPE and incident reporting. Together, these activities help embed safety into daily routines and support a more proactive safety culture.

  • Incident Reporting & Continuous Improvement

    Transparent reporting is essential to a strong safety culture. Atlas Pearls encourages the reporting of incidents, near misses, occupational health concerns and hazards so that risks can be understood, investigated and addressed before more serious harm occurs.

    During the reporting period, incident and near-miss reporting helped improve visibility of safety risks across operations. Reports were reviewed to identify contributing factors, assign corrective actions and strengthen site-level controls. This approach supports continuous improvement by ensuring that events are not only recorded, but also used as learning opportunities.

    Audit actions and corrective action tracking are also important parts of our HSE system. During the period, new actions were raised through audits and site reviews, with closures tracked monthly. This process helps ensure that identified risks are followed up and that improvements are implemented across relevant locations.

    Atlas Pearls is strengthening the consistency and quality of HSE data, including incident classification, corrective action close-out and reporting across sites.  At this stage, our

    focus is on building a reliable reporting baseline and encouraging a culture where workers feel confident to raise concerns and report incidents. This provides a stronger foundation for decision making and accountability.
