Education

Access to education remains one of the most important drivers of long-term community resilience in the remote coastal and island regions where Atlas Pearls operates. In some communities, students face practical barriers to learning, including limited access to resources, transport costs, school fees, language support and pathways to further study.

Through our Education pathway, Atlas Pearls supports programs that help children and young people remain engaged in learning, build confidence and access further opportunities. Our work includes scholarships, English lessons, learning resources, school-age internships, teacher support, dormitory assistance and graduation support.

These initiatives respond to local needs and reduce the financial, logistical and resource barriers that can affect education participation and completion. By supporting students, teachers and schools, Atlas Pearls contributes to stronger local capacity and education pathways connected to employment, leadership and community wellbeing.

Education also strengthens the connection between our operations and the communities around them. Through partnerships with schools, local organisations, families and community leaders, Atlas Pearls supports practical learning opportunities that contribute to community resilience.

Strategic Partnerships: Child Aid Papua

Partnerships in Raja Ampat help young people transition from education into employment and future careers. Child Aid Papua supports students through secondary education, mentoring and leadership development, while Atlas Pearls provides internship opportunities that build practical skills and confidence. Neda’s journey reflects the impact of this collaboration.

While studying with Child Aid Papua, Neda completed a 12-month internship with Atlas Pearls, gaining experience across several departments and developing valuable workplace skills. Earlier this year, she returned to Selpele Village to lead an English Camp for Grade 6 students, sharing her knowledge with the next generation.

After graduating in June 2026, Neda received a scholarship to study Hospitality at Telkom University in Bandung. Atlas Pearls further supported her transition by funding her flights and accommodation.

"As someone born and raised in Raja Ampat, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow through this internship program. The experience strengthened my determination to continue my education in Hospitality at Telkom University. I am committed to studying hard and one day returning to contribute to the people of Papua while sharing the beauty of Raja Ampat with the world."
