Our approach to Environmental Sustainability

  • Our environmental sustainability vision:

Striving to protect & enhance the environments we work in for future generations.

  • High quality pearls require pristine oceans with healthy, robust ecosystems. This means that at Atlas Pearls protecting the environment is not a promotional strategy, it’s a business imperative.

Part of our commitment to high environmental standards is to identify and report our impact on the environment. Through this process, we hope to identify areas where we can avoid or minimise any negative impacts by either changing our operational processes or implementing policies to better manage our impact on the environment.

  • Turtle Conservation

    CONSERVATION - IMPACT PROJECT

The beaches of Loang close to our Lembata farm site are a popular nesting area for sea turtles, sadly making them an easy target, traditionally hunted as a food source, both the turtle and their eggs are extremely vulnerable.

  • Eco Bricks

    WASTE MANAGEMENT - IMPACT PROJECT

In February 2024 the Company commenced an Eco-brick program in Kukusan and Pungu Island. This program focuses on the importance of educating children around the negative impacts of rubbish on our environment.

  • Light Weight Boats

    ENERGY EFFICIENCIES - IMPACT PROJECT

Fuel is a significant operational expense and a primary contributor to our GHG emissions. In our endeavour to reduce fuel use we are experimenting with light weight speed boats. We have measured the new hull designs use approximately 30-50% less fuel, consequently decreasing our emissions and leading to operational cost savings.
