Waste Management Pathway

Waste management is a significant challenge across our remote island operations. Limited local infrastructure, long transport distances and few downstream recycling options mean that diverting waste from landfill is not always straightforward. In some locations, access to suitable landfill facilities is also limited, meaning certain residual waste must be treated through government-approved incineration.

Conscious consumption is about understanding the materials we use, reducing unnecessary resource use, and finding practical ways to extend the life of materials across our operations. For Atlas Pearls, this includes farming materials, vessel and site supplies, packaging, office materials, and the inputs used to support pearl production, processing and distribution.
